Adam Butlin is a PhD Scholar in Economics at Balliol College, University of Oxford, and an Associate at the Centre for Macroeconomics. His research sits at the intersection of international macroeconomics and financial markets, with a particular interest in sovereign debt, financial crises, monetary policy and the transmission of global economic shocks.

Adam's research has been featured by major news outlets including the BBC, ITV, Guardian & Reuters. He was previously a pre-doctoral Research Assistant in the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics, where he worked with Professors Thomas Sampson, Swati Dhingra, and Catherine Thomas on topics in international macroeconomics.

He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics from University College London, where he also worked as a Research Assistant to Professor Dame Wendy Carlin, Professor Gabriella Conti, and Professor Pedro Carneiro.
